Introduction to an Auditory Expedition

Above the Light invites listeners on a singular journey of sound — one that transcends the veil of negative existence. This concept, though elusive to many, forms the essence of the project’s artistic vision. The sound leads us into realms beyond the reach of human cognition, into what might be described as the non-manifest: the source of all creation and dissolution. Within this space, the project orbits the idea of the boundless Light — rendered here through the medium of sound.

Though unseen, Light defines the very notion of darkness; it reveals itself only in reflection. This fundamental polarity is echoed in music, which acquires meaning only through the listener’s reception. In engaging with Above the Light, you become a participant in this exploration — momentarily touching the threshold of non-being.

The journey also draws inspiration from the opening verses of the Book of Moses. The act of creation — the separation of light from darkness, the naming of Day and Night — parallels the project’s meditation on the dialectic of illumination and obscurity. Through Above the Light, we are not passive observers but participants in a cosmic unfolding. The work challenges us to perceive beyond conceptual boundaries, drawing us into a silent dialogue with the unseen and the eternal.

As we listen, the music becomes a prism — transforming sound into a visible spectrum of light and shadow, echoing the primordial tensions at the root of all being. Above the Light stands as a threshold, a bridge toward unbounded realms, offering a glimpse into the deep silence that precedes both creation and dissolution.

l. Book of Moses, in the l. chapter the verses 2-5:

“And the earth was without form, and void; and God caused darkness to come up upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the water; And God, said: Let there be alight; and there was light. And God, saw the light; and that light was good. And God, divided the light from the darkness. And God, called the light Day; and the darkness, He called Night.”
